WORKSHOPS & EDUCATION

Throughout my career, I have done different kinds of workshops with various types of clients, exploring what food can do in a broader sense than providing for our basic needs. In the last years, there has been a growing interest in my work from educational programs nationally and internationally within the realm of food, art, and activism.

THE TASTE OF YOUR DREAM

IMAGINING FUTURE FOOD

DATING YOUR SENSES

THE TASTE OF YOUR DREAM

A sense and perception workshop that asks participants to think creatively and let go of conventions. The task is to generate and interpret the taste of your personal dream using the egg and its many gastronomic, artistic, and symbolic opportunities as the main ingredient. The aim is to kickstart abstract thinking, idea generation, and concept development.

    • Practice and push abstract thinking

    • Improve creative and interpretation skills

    • Train sensory and perceptual skills

    • Evolve idea generation and concept development

    • Develop presentation and performance competencies and unveil ways of working with food outside the traditional realm

    • Students are challenged to think outside the ordinary in more unconventional ways and throw out the rule book

    • Setting personal dreams free by confronting the obstacles that stand in their way

    • Develop the courage to risk failure, show vulnerability, be curious, and experiment

    • Using food, taste, and senses as the medium to convey an individual story

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • ”Setting the foundation”

Introduction to the assignment and demonstration of methods working with food, art, and science, as well as a theoretical introduction to the main ingredient, the egg, followed by “Dating your senses” exercises and presence practice. During the presentation, there will be time for discussions in small groups, reflection, and the creation of individual posters uncovering the dream.

  • “I wanna feel your heartbeat”

A full focus and hands-on creative process and preparation testing and producing samples for the final sensory performance.

  • “The taste of your dream”

Each participant delivers an individual sensory performance unveiling their dream, followed by a short QA session.

AFTERTHOUGHTS

Food is a seductive medium, and cooking is a powerful discipline. When merged with art, it can transform into a unique potion. The choice of eggs as the main ingredient is deliberate. Eggs are a symbol of creation, rebirth, new beginnings, life, and death. They are also an incredible superfood with endless culinary possibilities and an irresistible object for creating art.

It is my experience that the workshop touches and inspires many participants. Dreams are messages from the deep and are not always easy to convey. Abstract thinking and being challenged in this unfamiliar discipline have the power to confront personal struggles that block the dreams themselves and the freedom to dream. The process has unveiled that participants manage to unfold surprising resources of creativity and reveal the courage to risk failure. Everyone shows deep concentration and an incredible sense of engagement. The workshop creates an interesting ambiance of individual dedication towards the task combined with mutual respect and support in the group. This is backstage work at its best, encouraging everyone to make an effort and play their part. The performances in the end usually vary from structured and strong to vulnerable, touching, and poetic.

IMAGINING FUTURE FOOD

The imbalance caused by human interference in the global ecosystem requires us to rethink our food systems. This includes changing the way we cultivate and consume food. The workshop aims to encourage us to imagine and discuss future food scenarios and create examples of a future meal. We can expect everything from vertical, urban gardens and artificially-grown meat to self-sufficient communities, superfood pills, auditive menus, or other ways of satisfying hunger through our senses.

DATING YOUR SENSES

This is a workshop containing a series of exercises that keep us aware of our senses and their importance in everyday life. Our senses need to be stimulated and strengthened. We need to keep our senses fit to achieve maximum benefit from their ability to help us understand and perceive the world around us.

All workshops are customized to fit the individual client. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
